Do you get any leave time during Officer Training School with the Air Force?
My boyfriend left for OTS with the Air Force two days ago. His training school is 13 weeks long but we heard rumors that he'd get off-base privileges on the weekends after 4-6 weeks and I'd be able to come and spend the weekend with him. Is this true or not? Can anyone tell me what I can expect during the next 13 weeks? How often do I hear from him? Can we e-mail, etc? THANK YOU.

- Dont think so
- yes
- Contact isn't encouraged but he can email you. Depending on the commander, he may even be able to call you. But they really don't like families coming to visit during the training. They need to focus everything they have on the studies.
- if you look on defence recruitings website, it gives a run down of what happens at training. in officer training they hvae some evenings and most weekends to themselves as training progresses. to be allowed on base, written permission must be obtained and there are set visiting hours. as for mail, there is time to post letters everyday so you can expect mail. good luck x.
- Sad. Air Force is that lazy they can't just suck it up during 13 measly weeks of training... To be an officer.
- No don't count on him getting any leave at all during training. You'll probably not get to see him until about 8 weeks on the weekends. The first 4 weeks he is lower class, and will get next to no privileges. He will get an email account so you could hear from him pretty soon. it depends, It took them 10 weeks to get my husbands email account set up to where I could email to him, instead I had to email his roommate. He was able to call me at the end of the duty day, but it depends on how much your man will study. I heard from mine about once a night for a about 20 mins or so. That was about 2 or 3 weeks in though. You'll be fine, 12 weeks is not long. It seems like it at first, but it's really not. Depending on what his career feild is, such as Pilot Training, you need to get used to him leaving, My husband had IFS- 6 weeks, ASBC- 6 weeks, and will have 6 weeks of Survival School after his year of Pilot training, and if you don't get married before he gets stationed somewhere, you won't be able to live on base with him. So good luck.
