How can I become an Air Force officer?
I'm a college graduate from Michigan. It was a crappy school, didn't really prepare me for the real world. Now I'm looking to either become a police officer or join the armed services. I'm interested in the Air Force as an officer. How do I go about this? Should I go into another service?

- See a recruiter and ask about Officer Candidate School (OCS)
- you need to have had at least a 3.0 gpa to become an officer in the Air Force (my brother-in-law tried and they said he couldn't because he only had a 2.5) you can join as an officer with this gpa, good luck!
- You may be eligible for the OCS program. Else, try to get entry into the AF academy.
- Call a local recruiting station and ask to speak to their commanding officer. Enlisted recruiters aren't interested in recruiting officers, they only get gredit for enlisted recruits. You have to talk to their captain.
- Officer Training School is your way to go. If you have good grades as already said before, you might be able to get in. Your best shot at becoming an officer is to get in from the get-go. Besides, only officers get to become pilots (if that be your interest). Put in your 20 years, then become a doughnut muncher and collect double pensions another 20 years later!
- Go talk to a Army recruiter!!
- You have to try and get into OTS or some people call it "OCS" .., speak with a recruiting officer. There force shaping, kicking people out..so the AF is being picky and it's 18 weeks of hell. Good luck! It'll be a rewarding career. **You can't go to the USAFA if you're over 21. 21 is the maximum, plus, that's another 4 years of school, and you already have your degree and it's tough as hell to get in., plus you have to get nominated by a governner/congressman ..OTS is your option
- You can either go to college and do AFROTC (Air force reserve officer training corps) USAFA (United States Air force Academy) in Colorado springs Colorado. or see if they have an OCS (Officer Candidate school).
- See an officer recruiter and ask about Officer Training School. They also have a website.
- I'm a Captain in the Air Force. I graduated from college first, like you, and decided to join the Air Force a couple of years later. You will be looking at going to Officer Training School (OTS). It is a 13.5 week basic-training type course at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. I called my local recruiting office and asked for "Officer Accessions." You DO NOT want to speak to a regular recruiter. They will convince you that you have to be enlisted first, and make lots of promises they cannot keep. Once you speak with someone in Officer Accessions, you'll end up taking the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT). It's basically the ASVAB for officers, telling them what skills you have or what jobs you would be good at. The recruiter will review your grades. Don't worry about GPA, especially if you have reasonable life experience. For instance, my GPA was fairly low, but they took into account that I worked my way through college with an average of 3 jobs at a time. I was accepted, and the girl with the 4.0 but no life experience was denied. If you have any other questions, please just ask. I've done exactly what you are considering doing.
