Join army question. How do I join the army if my green card was employer sponsored?
I know you need a green card to join the US army. I can get a few people to sponsor me as employers, but then I dont think you can just switch jobs. You must remain with that sponsor. So how are all these people getting green cards to enlist, when most of them are sponsored, and the army doesn't help. Thanks SO much.

- If anyone can figure out a way, it will be your local friendly Army Recruiter... Talk to him.
- You are not a resident alien. You are here on a work visa. You need to establish resident alien status through the immigration service or become a U. S. citizen. A recruiter might give you some help on how to do that. The immigration service would be of greater help.
- I don't think that an employer can sponsor you to get a green card and eventually become a naturalized U.S. citizen! only a work Visa!
- Yeah, a green card is NOT sponsored by an employer & not revoked if you change jobs. A work visa is sponsored by an employer and allows you to stay for a temporary period in order to fill that specific job. A green card is just short of citizenship. It allows you to stay forever, regardless of employment or any of that stuff, but not to vote or anything like that. You need that green card status so that you can enlist, then you'll be granted citizenship after a year or so of satisfactory service. People are not getting green cards to enlist, not easily anyway. They have to go thru the same process with the same wait time as everyone else. They military is not allowed to help you in any way with that process. Once you have your card though we'll put you right in.
