What is better service to join Army Infantry or Marine Infantry?
I was planning on going 11B for Army but I spoke to a Marine recruiter and I am not sure now. I was wondering if anyone has any opinion on which is to join. Try to be unbiased :) and polite, I don't wanna spark a war of words between anyone here, just an opinion on which service is better to join.

- Well, I was going to say that both are what some may refer to as "bullet sponges" but since you want me to be polite....whichever one offers you the best benefits...education, rank, tour of duty....etc. Good luck
- well i am for the marines and i had a dad that was marine in WWII and i therefore would be vary biased. butyu know what they are proud honest and they make the real man. you would be proud to be amrine and they once they are one will always be a mraine and once you join you will see what i have said is true.
- my dad was Army for 18 of my years, I was a Marine when I was 19. I just like uniforms, I don't think either is better, you get through boot camp and you get a job and you do it. they are all like that.
- Army 11B is an excellent choice. IMO, the Marines can be a bit extreme about things just for the sake of being extreme. But some people like that -- it seems to pump up their Esprit De Corps. Either way, you will find yourself doing the same job in Iraq and/or Afghanistan, so I do hope you enjoy the one you pick. Thanks for being willing to serve.
- Just ask yourself which branch do you want to be part of.. Do you want to serve in the Army or do you want to serve as a Marine..Both are good, it just depends which branch you want to be a part of.. Im curious as to what your recruiter told you that changed your mind after you had it made up.
- We can't give you accurate information until you specify what you find good about the military. One person who loves to be outdoors, is in great shape and loves getting dirty, might have a very different idea of what is considered good when compared with someone who who only goes out when they have to, is out of shape and hates to get dirty. Not that I am insinuating that one branch would be better for the people I described, I just wanted to point out how the definition of good can vary from person to person. Repost the question, but this time list what you are looking to get out of the military or what you are looking forward to in your mind. Then you will get some answers that can direct you on the right path.
- Army Airborne,SF, Ranger, Infantry!
- I was in the Marines but i respect all service men AND women. i would say join the Marines. its a more prestigius honor and you will make brothers and sisters for life. your training WILL be hard and rigorus but it will be worth it. you will never regret making the Marine Corps part of your life. it will help you in all aspects of life. good luck with your decision i salute you for having the courage to stand up and fight fo you country. if you do join the Marines then OO-RAH AND SEMPER FI!! if not then thats ok too. take care and keep safe, espesially in infantry (i was 0311 basic infantry)
- If you can get through the USMC basic training, you can do anything you want for the rest of you life.
- the army has better deals because they have more money..they have better equipment and you can pick your job the marines is more of an ego thing..they are trained to do the most with the least i know this may not be very helpful..but i have 2 brothers with the marines currently serving in iraq and they have only one thing that they wished the marines did like the army and that was job training so they would have somethin to fall back on when they get out..but they have no regrets and love havin the title Marine i am signin up and leanin more towards the army (most likely airborne ranger) only because i havent talked with the marines yet and if they have somethin like the army college fund that will pay my $32,000 debt i will go with them otherwise i cant afford it with my basic pay
- DON'T JOIN THE MARINES!!!!!!!!!! i HAD A BUNCH OF FRIENDS WHO CAME BACK AND THEY WERE NEVER THE SAME!!!! Marines break you and change you and it doesn't matter who you are, you wont come back the same. they brain wash.
- Depending if you are looking for an education also. I'm a former marine machinegunner and vet, and I could easily say "us", but I guess it's up to what you're looking for. If you want to join as far as education goes, and from what I've read, faster promotions, go army. If you prefer to do see what you got deep down, when you think you can't be pushed anymore, and you need someone to kick you in the rear to get you moving....well I don't have to say anymore on that. But to be honest the marine corps isn't what it used to be as far as 20 years ago. It is tough still but they have put the D.I.'S in a position where they have to be careful of what they do. I still think the marines are the more elite of the two, but I don't think you will go wrong with either one, just a matter of you reading your history of both, and which one would make your chest stick out after bootcamp, good luck and "Semper Fi"! P.S. Cassie, sorry about your friends but I'm sure you can find just as many "brainwashed" army dogs as well. Just like sports, there are always a small percentage of people who couldn't handle the pressures of military life..thats a fact, know what you're talking about, take care!
- If you think infantry is something is something you are interested in I think the Marines is really the only choice. The Marines aren't marines, there a veteran, some would argue elite, US forces. They aren't used for amphibious operations as much as they are used in wars as the "tip of the spear". That is to say where US commands expect the heaviest fighting in a region to be where the Marines are assigned. In essence, the Marines is used as the force that gains ground, the Army that which holds it. The branches are trained, armed and treated as such.
- Honestly your best bet is U.S. Army Infantry reason being i know countless marines who changed over to army for the sake of getting faster promotions and way better training we have more money then marines and therefore can afford better equipment/ training. Whichever side you choose to go you will see what i am talking about when you deploy some day and army grunts all have fully loaded m-4s and marines are carrying m-16s with iron sights.
